Weekend mornings in MacRitchie can be either lovely or horrible, depending on where you are. Standing in the middle of the trail on the Lornie side will yield a pancake that was formerly your body, but over towards Venus Drive only the most dedicated runners (or walkers, or dogs) remain. The air is (relatively) cool, but the sun was bright enough for me to catch the slightest glimmer off this spider web. Following was 15 minutes of attempting to get a clear, crisp shot of the wonderfully, frustratingly fragile structure. At first I focused solely on the spider, which was resting contentedly at the center of the web. After about five minutes, a fly came, and started buzzing around this unfortunate moth that had caught itself in the web in an attempt to dislodge it and abscond with a freek meal; the spider then came down to investiagate and scared away the fly in the process. Defense having been duly carried out, he then settled down to enjoy his meal. Mornings in MacRitchie can be either lovely horrible, depending on where you are on the web.
